Death, taxes, and nebraska finding New Ways to Lose

The Nebraska Cornhuskers suffered their fifth loss of the season, falling to Maryland at home 13-10. Before this contest, Nebraska had high hopes of qualifying for a bowl game. But, after what transpired today, those aspirations may be a pipe dream...

Though they struggled to stop the run at times, the Cornhusker Defense played winning football today. Allowing 13 points, forcing three turnovers, and giving your offense chance after chance should've been enough for Nebraska to steal a victory against a winning team. Tony White and his unit did all they could today and deserve more recognition for their fantastic play. On the other hand, Marcus Satterfield and the Nebraska Offense showcased why they are one of the most disappointing units in the entire nation...

The Cornhuskers played three quarterbacks today, and it got worse and worse as the day went on. Heinrich Haarberg exited the game in the second quarter with a leg injury after completing one pass for zero yards and an interception. Jeff Sims took Haarberg's place and showed precisely why Matt Rhule benched him after Week Two. Sims committed three costly turnovers in two-quarters of action and was benched for Cubba Purdy midway through the fourth. The brother of Brock Purdy led the Huskers on a lengthy and promising drive late in the fourth quarter that looked destined to give Nebraska the lead. But it all came screeching to a halt when Purdy committed the fifth Cornhusker turnover of the day on third and goal, throwing an INT to Maryland DB Tarheeb Still. Taulia Tagovailoa would ultimately lead the Terps into field goal range, and Jack Howes nailed a 24-yard field goal in the game's waning seconds to shock Memorial Stadium...

Long story short, the Nebraska Offense found a unique way to lose again. Turnovers, mental mistakes, and atrocious offensive playcalling have plagued the Cornhuskers all year, and it sucks that this stunning defense has to endure losses like these too...
