The Most Disappointing Titans Players through five Games

The Tennessee Titans have had a very up-and-down start to the 2023 season, as the team currently stands at 2-3 after their most recent loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Some guys have stepped up and had surprisingly good years, while others have left much to be desired. Let's look at the most disappointing Titans' players through the first five games of the season…

Kristian Fulton, CB

Kristian Fulton and his 43.6 PFF Grade has been the most disappointing player for Tennessee by a longshot. Through five games, Fulton has given up a whopping 234 yards in coverage, with an abysmal 118.7 passer rating when targeted. The former LSU Tiger has allowed over 80% of balls thrown his way to be caught and has been the primary liability for the Tennessee Defense all season. On Sunday against Indianapolis, Kristian committed two massive penalties in coverage and was constantly getting burned by Rookie WR Josh Downs. With Fulton in a contract year, it's unlikely we will see him in Nashville in 2024, and a fresh start is needed for both sides…

Chig Okonkwo, TE

Many thought that Okonkwo would take the next step in 2023 and become one of the better tight ends in the league. Through five games, Chig has been inconsistent and underwhelming in all aspects. The former Maryland standout has just 105 receiving yards on the year and has only hauled in 15 catches. Though OC Tim Kelly has yet to make the second-year TE a focal point of the offense, Okonkwo has yet to consistently show the ability to catch the football, as the TE has already dropped multiple passes to start the season. Chig has never been the finest blocker, so he provides little value when he isn't contributing to the passing attack. There's a lot of season left to go, but Chig's play has confounded me.

Andre Dillard, LT

Though he had a much-needed bounce-back game against the Colts, Dillard has been a train wreck to start the season. The former Eagle has given up the third most pressures in the NFL at 22 and has allowed six sacks on the year. In the off-season, Ran Carthon gave Dillard a three-year, 29-million-dollar deal, and the decision looks like a poor one right now. He bought himself some time with a decent performance on Sunday versus Indy, but Dillard's leash isn't sizeable at all with the return of Nicholas Petit-Frere this week. If he turns in another lousy performance versus the Ravens in London, his job could be in jeopardy…

Treylon Burks, WR

It's challenging to evaluate Burks, as he has missed some time with injury. Though he hasn't been healthy, I've been disappointed with the play I've seen from him this season. Besides a prominent 70-yard catch against the LA Chargers, the former Razorback has yet to be a reliable pass-catching option for QB Ryan Tannehill when he is available. Burks has had just two catches this season go over 15 yards and has dropped many pivotal third-down passes. His lengthy injury history carrying into this season is also very alarming and disheartening. The Titans have had horrible luck drafting in the first round the past couple of seasons, so let's hope Burks figure it out and not find himself on the list of failed Titans' first-round selections…
