NBA Free agency: Day 1 Winners

With day one of NBA Free Agency in the books, lets look at the biggest winners of a stacked day one

Fred VanVleet: Undrafted to a max contract, VanVleet has defied all the odds and has proved everyone wrong throughout the years. Though the contract is an overpay and makes no sense for the Rockets, I’m happy for VanVleet and his family

Phoenix Suns: The Suns didn’t have much money to spend, but they did a terrific job with the money they had. My favorite signing they made was Yuta Watanabe, who shot over 50% from the corner last year, which will greatly help Phoenix. They also signed Drew Eubanks, Keita Bates-Diop, and brought back Josh Okogie and Damion Lee.

Kyrie and the Mavs: There were a lot of questions surrounding Kyrie before free agency. Will he leave the Mavs? How much money will he demand? Could he finally go back to the Lakers? All that ended being a wash as Kyrie stays in Dallas on a great, team friendly contract. Dallas also brought back Seth Curry for a second stint, who will be a key role player beside Luka and Kyrie.

Los Angeles Lakers: The Lakers did a great job getting role players and bringing back role players for Lebron and AD. They brought back Rui, who was great for them in the playoffs. Bringing in Gabe Vincent, Jaxson Hayes, Taurean Prince, and Cam Reddish were nice moves as well. As long as LA can bring back Reaves, they are big winners in free agency…
