The Titans need a VINTAGE Derrick Henry Performance vS Cleveland
The Titans need a big performance by one of their all time greats this week…
Derrick Henry is still one of the best running backs in the NFL, but it’s time to admit that the future Hall of Famer is in the back end of his prime. Henry hasn’t had a Vintage “King Henry performance” in a while, but this week would be the perfect week for the King to reclaim his throne against a tough Browns Defense…
On Sunday, the Titans will travel to Cleveland to face the Browns, as both teams will be looking to move over 500 and pick up their second wins. Though both teams boast explosive players, this game will be a slugfest, as the two offenses will struggle to complete big pass plays down the field. Though Nick Chubb’s injury will affect the Browns’ rushing attack, I expect both teams to make the running game a focal point. This is the type of game where the Titans’ defensive line has to take over from the jump, and Tennessee has to establish Derrick Henry…
There’s no doubt in my mind that the Titans’ D-Line will dominate Cleveland’s Rushing Attack, as Tennessee’s defense has been one of the best run-stopping units in the NFL the past couple of seasons. Denico Autry’s injury makes me slightly worried, but the depth on this defensive front is incredible. On the other hand, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen a vintage Derrick Henry performance. The ladder is one 200-yard rushing game away from holding the most in NFL history, and breaking the record in Cleveland would be storybook. Many compare Henry to Browns’ Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown, and the King breaking the record in Browns’ city would be amazing. More importantly, Henry’s elite game would easily carry the Titans to victory. Though he had a terrific performance last week, I am uncomfortable with Tannehill dropping back 30 times with Dillard and Hubbard protecting him from Myles Garrett. It’s a recipe for disaster that I don’t want Tim Kelly to cook up. This is the type of game where you let Henry loose and feed him 30 carries. It’s the safest and smartest way for the Titans to win this tough road game in Cleveland…
Derrick Henry is nearing the end of his prime, and it’s a bittersweet realization. Seeing Henry break all these incredible records and leading the Titans to playoff wins has been fun, but it’s coming to an end soon. If the Titans want to win on Sunday, they must make Henry the focal point. This Cleveland Defense will eat up the Tennessee Offense if Ryan Tannehill has to drop back 30 times with Myles Garrett coming off the edge….
