An INTRIGUING Defensive prospect the Titans should target in the 2024 NFL Draft!
It all begins with an idea.
The Titans offense has been drawing most of the attention this offseason, as the offensive line and wide receiver rooms need a massive overhaul in 2024. Though the offense requires the most addressing these next few months, GM Ran Carthon and HC Brian Callahan also have plenty of work to do on the defensive side of the ball, primarily the secondary. Tennessee's secondary was pathetic in 2023, allowing a 96.4 passer rating to opposing QBs, which ranked within the bottom five. One player isn't going to repair the broken secondary in Nashville, but Ran Carthon should strongly consider drafting Oregon CB Khyree Jackson in this year's draft!
Jackson struggled to produce and find a home playing collegiate football for years, as the Maryland native played Juco ball at first before transferring to the University of Alabama. The former four-star juco prospect failed to find a consistent role in Tuscaloosa and committed to Oregon via the transfer portal for the 2023 season. After years of transferring and inconsistent playing time, Jackson flourished in Tosh Lupoi's defense and was one of the best cornerbacks in the nation for the Ducks. In 2023, Jackson pulled in 3 INTs and showcased why he could be a lockdown corner at the next level. The 23-year-old allowed a passer rating of 41.6 when targeted and allowed a 50% completion rate. Jackson's 6'3, 195-pound frame and long arms make him a matchup nightmare on the outside and directly correlate to his excellence against taller WRs in jump ball situations. Though Jackson excels against taller receivers, he struggles with speedier and more agile WRs, which can lead to penalties.

Jackson is an imperfect player, as he committed four penalties in 2023, and can be handsy at the line of scrimmage against shifty wide receivers. Plus, the Oregon standout has only one year of consistent production and playing time under his belt. But Jackson's strengths pop on tape and will entice many teams. Many websites and sources differ on Khyree's draft projection, but rounds 2-3 seems to be the consensus. This could change drastically in the future, as the NFL Combine hasn't even commenced. But if Tennessee can somehow get their hands on Khyree Jackson, they won't regret it!!
