Interview with 2024 NFL Draft Prospect Armon Bean: A god-fearing Tennessee native who loves to play football!

Got the chance to sit down with Pitt State CB and 2024 NFL Draft Prospect Armon Bean! The 6'3, 200-pound corner from Memphis has traveled all across the country to play college football and hopes to find an opportunity in the NFL!

Question 1

Sharm: Give me some background info. Who is Armon Bean?

Bean: A god-fearing Tennessee native who loves to play football.

Question 2

Sharm: Tell me about your college football journey.

Bean: Started off my college career as a Walk-On at Mississippi State University in the fall of 2019 after losing my junior year of high school to a spine injury and an ACL & Meniscus tear going into my senior year. I only had one offer to a NAIA school in Canton, Missouri named Culver-Stockton College to play Wide Receiver. I ended up leaving Mississippi State after I had gotten into a motorcycle accident in Palm City Beach, Florida the spring after my Redshirt Freshman season in 2021. Hit the portal and ended up with a scholarship offer from every community college in the states of Mississippi, Kansas, and Utah, along with a few FBS Walk-On opportunities during COVID in 2021. Ended up signing with Snow College in UT due to their Pre-Engineering program for the 2021 season, which led to me turning down multiple FBS, FCS, and other D2 scholarships to go play at Pittsburg State University as a Gorilla for the 2022 and 2023 seasons while pursuing my degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.

Question 3

Sharm: What are your greatest strengths as a player?

Bean: Definitely my versatility, being able to play anywhere on the backend. My man-to-man coverage skills, especially press-man coverage ability, and being physical in the run game. Big emphasis on speed and ball skills.

Question 4

Sharm: What NFL players do you watch and try to emulate your game around?

Bean: Jalen Ramsey, Deion Sanders, Sauce Gardner, Charles Woodson, and Sean Taylor. Ramsey's athleticism, physicality, and ability to travel all across the field is exceptional. Deion Sanders is my childhood idol; his ability to win 50-50 balls and the confidence in doing so. That's the expectation I hold for myself. His finesse and playmaking ability as well. I like Sauce Gardner because he has a similar playstyle and is an elite lockdown corner. I admire his attitude and confidence, his lack of talk on the field and the way he handles business. Charles Woodson was my childhood comparison and someone who's a complete package at the cornerback position. Lastly, Sean Taylor because we've never seen anything like him. Tackling ability, leadership, speed, and high energy.

Question 5

Sharm: What will Armon Bean bring to an NFL team on a day-to-day basis?

Bean: A guy who truly loves this game and will buy into your program. Give his absolute all, and willing to do extra. Somebody more concerned about the team winning and being successful. Willing to fit in and do whatever to help the team. Being a sponge, that's big.

Question 6

Sharm: When faced with adversity, how do you respond?

Bean: I look to God.
