Top Kirk COusins Landing Spots If he is Traded!

The NFL Trade Deadline is right around the corner, and the rumor mill has started to churn. Though he is on pace for 5,000 yards and over 40 TDs, Kirk Cousins is one of the more prominent names in the rumor mill. The Vikings are 1-4, and Cousins is in the last year of his deal, so the team should at least gauge his trade interest. It’s very unlikely that Kirk will get traded, but here are the top landing spots for the 34-year-old if Minnesota pulls the trigger…

The favorites: New York Jets

Though Robert Salsa has repeatedly stated that Zach Wilson is their QB, the Jets wouldn't resist an opportunity to bring in Cousins for a mid-round pick potentially. New York still has playoff aspirations even with Rodgers' injury, and we all know Zach Wilson isn't going to cut it. Kirk Cousins would walk right into that Jet's Locker Room and garner a ton of respect from his teammates and coaches. Cousins, with this Jets' Defense and Garrett Wilson, would be a match made in heaven for both sides. The only problem with this trade is that it would be a one-year rental, as Aaron Rodgers is scheduled to return by the start of next season as he continues his recovery…

Runner up: Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons are off to a surprisingly good 3-2 start, as their defense and run game have been excellent. Though he is a serviceable starter, Desmond Ridder still has a long way to go in his development and could use time to master his skills. Bringing in a veteran QB like Cousins to be the bridge and lead you to a playoff appearance would be picture-perfect for Atlanta. Kirk would do wonders in an offense with Kyle Pitts, Bijan, and Drake London. Falcons HC Arthur Smith is also a master in the play-action game, which Kirk excels at. Ridder has been pretty good this season, but Kirk would make Atlanta even more potent and give Desmond more time to develop…

Unlikely but would be fun: New England Patriots

A Bill Belichick and Kirk Cousins-led team would be interesting. Though the Patriots are only three years into the Mac Jones Era, it's clear that Belichick doesn't trust him or have faith in him. If Cousins becomes available, Belichick could be enticed and call the Vikings about a potential deal. Cousins' mild manner and hard-working attitude would blend well with Belichick, and Kirk Cousins feels like a Patriot-type player. Though it is a compelling landing spot, Kirk to New England is unlikely, even if he gets traded. Cousins has a no-trade clause, so it is doubtful he would waive it to go to NE because of the atrocious offensive situation. It's a fun destination but has close to a zero percent chance of happening.

The Crazy Deal: Tennessee Titans

Kirk to Tennessee would be entirely out of left field, but the NFL's most confusing moves and trades happen at the deadline. Kirk Cousins to Tennessee and Ryan Tannehill to Minnesota is the crazy part of this deal, and it makes sense for both sides to a certain extent. The Titans get a slight QB upgrade to help in their playoff pursuit, while the Vikings get a bridge guy to hold the spot down until they find their next franchise QB. The only problem with this deal is that it only makes sense in some places. Both guys are on expiring contracts, and there's no point in two mediocre teams essentially swapping the same QB. It would be exciting and fun, but it would make little sense.

At the end of the day, it is doubtful Cousins will get traded because of his no-trade clause. A Pro Bowl QB getting traded at the deadline would be some storyline, though!!
