the Correct Top 10 QBS in the NFl (2023)

The Top 10 QBs in the NFL…

You’ve probably seen many articles talking about the top 10 quarterbacks in the NFL. Here at SharmSports, we have the correct list from 10 to 1!

HONORABLE MENTIONS: Deshaun Watson, Kirk Cousins, Geno Smith

10. Jared Goff, Lions

Starting off with a bit of a hot take, but what Jared Goff did at the end of last season was amazing. I always felt like he was overhated when he was with the Rams, and at the start with the Lions. Last season, he put the league on notice with his poise, accuracy, and clean football. Goff may not wow you like some other QBs, but he limits his turnovers and plays winning football. Expect Goff to have his best season since 2018, and to lead the Lions back to the playoffs…

9. Dak Prescott, Cowboys

Many don’t like him right now, but Prescott has established himself as the Cowboys’ franchise QB and a top 10 guy. Last year was clearly an outlier when it comes to the turnovers, as Dak has never been a QB that turns the ball over at a high rate. Many of his interceptions were his receiver’s fault, as Dak ranked about league average for turnover-worthy play percentage. The truth is, Dak Prescott is a winner and has led the Cowboys to the playoffs almost every year he has started. For him to move up in this list, we have to see better postseason performances, but number nine is the perfect spot for the former Bulldog.

8. Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars

There is an argument to be made that Lawrence was the best QB in the second half of the season last year. After an abysmal 5-8 starter, Jacksonville started cooking in mid-December, mainly because of their franchise QB. The playoffs were nothing short of special, as Trevor led one of the greatest comebacks in NFL history against the Chargers. My only knocks on Lawrence are that we haven’t seen enough, and we’ve seen more good than bad. Besides the second half of last year, Trevor has been a bad QB, but I don’t expect him to ever play like that again. He is number eight this year, but don’t be surprised if he is top five by January…

7. Jalen Hurts, Eagles

The former Sooner balled out last year, going 16-2 as a starter and being the favorite for league MVP for most of the season. Hurts athleticism and improved passing mechanics made the Eagles’ offense so much more deadly and versatile. Adding a receiver like A.J. Brown and having the best O-Line in the league also helps, but Hurts still showed why he is going to be one of the best in the league for the next decade. Much like Lawrence though, we haven’t seen enough, so I can’t rank him too high on my list just yet…

6. Lamar Jackson, Ravens

People have really forgotten how good Lamar Jackson is. The 2019 unanimous MVP has dealt with injuries over the past two years, but when he is on the field, there is no other player in the league like him. Jackson has improved tremendously in the pocket throughout his career, becoming a more all-around player. His accuracy becomes underrated at times due to his incredible running ability, but it is up there as one of the best in the league. My only knocks on Jackson are his inconsistent deep ball and health. If Lamar can fix those two issues, there is no stopping the former Cardinal…

5. Justin Herbert, Chargers

Justin Herbert has proved many wrong so far in his career, including me. I thought the Chargers would be stuck in mediocrity for ages with Herbert at QB, but they are set up for success for the next 15 years. The way he just effortlessly throws the ball with such touch and velocity when he needs to do is so Aaron Rodgers-esque. We need to see more winning out of the former Duck, but I think it is coming very soon. My only wish is that he gets a better coach than Brandon Staley sometime in the future…

4. Aaron Rodgers, Jets

Last year was not a great one for the canton-bound gunslinger. Limited weapons and inconsistency caused the Packers to miss the playoffs for the first time in a long while. Now with the Jets, Rodgers has arguably the best team that has ever been assembled around him. Every corner of that offense is filled with playmakers and trusted veterans, and the defense is one that you don’t want to face. Contrary to popular belief, Rodgers isn’t actually washed and is still one of the best QBs in the world. He is going to do wonders this season with NY and compete for the AFC East…

3. Josh Allen, Bills

What is there not to like about Josh Allen? A humble guy who can make every throw on the football field while outrunning many linebackers and D-Lineman. Allen fits that Buffalo team and city well, a small-town kid who works extremely hard and also has a cannon for an arm. Though many are down on Josh Allen right now, I believe he has the potential to be one of the all-time greats. We just have to see him get to that Super Bowl and win it. Every year we say it’s the Bills year, and every year we are disappointed. To move up over Joe Burrow, I have to see Allen play a game in February…

2. Joe Burrow, Bengals

Joe Cool has established himself as the best pocket passer in the NFL today, and one of the better playoff performers. He was so close to advancing to his second straight Super Bowl, but he won’t have to worry. The Bengals are stacked and are set up for success in the foreseeable future. Much of that is because of Burrow, who has calm, cool, and collected playstyle. Dethorning Mahomes will be a tough task for anybody, but Burrow may have the best chance of doing it…

1. Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs

No surprises here, Mahomes is number one. The most talented QB to ever live, and will go down as the second-best QB ever. There are teams in the AFC with better rosters than the Chiefs, but they have 15, so they are automatically the team to beat. This is a unanimous, league-wide decision at this point…
