This Titans Player is primed for a Breakout Season in 2023
Azeez Al-Shaair is primed for a breakout year after a disappointing end to his 49ers tenure..
The Tennessee Titans signed former 49ers linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair to a one-year, six-million-dollar contract back in March. The young linebacker has struggled with injuries and inconsistencies so far in his career, but a change of scenery could help the 26-year-old. Don’t be surprised if the former Owl has a big-time breakout in 2023…
Al-Shaair was signed as an undrafted free agent back in 2019 by the 49ers. Azeez’s tenure in San Francisco was very up and down, as he had a terrific 2021 season, but was underwhelming in the rest of the years he played in a gold helmet. Though his time in the red and gold ended with him losing his starting job and going through a plethora of injuries, Al-Shaair showed the potential he had as a three-down linebacker, and the Titans couldn’t resist his skillset. Former 49ers director of player personnel Ran Carthon, who was a part of the front office that signed Al-Shaair as an undrafted free agent, took a chance on the still young and raw linebacker. The six-million-dollar investment Carthon and the Titans made on Al-Shaair looks like an absolute bargain with how well he’s performed in training camp!!
Throughout training camp, Al-Shaair showed intensity, leadership, and confidence that the heart of the Titans’ defense was lacking. Azeez is a perfect fit to lead the Titans’ front seven and defense under Shane Bowen. Not only is Azeez’s intensity just off the charts, but his coverage skills as a 230 LB linebacker are just incredible. Al-Shaair is also a pretty good tackler for his size, as he rarely gives up on a play before the whistle blows. The former Florida Atlantic star will serve as LB1 in Tennessee and will guide a young and inexperienced linebacker room into battle…
Many don’t know the name just yet, but Azeez Al-Shaair is going to have a monster 2023 season and put the entire NFL world on notice. The ladder has struggled to find consistency and hasn’t been given a fair chance so far in his career. That all changes this year because the success of the Titans’ defense will have a lot to do with the leadership and firey competitive spirit of the man wearing number 2 in the middle!!
