Who will start at QB for the Titans in the preseason Opener?

Will Levis or Malik Willis will start for the Titans on Saturday

Earlier today, Mike Vrabel announced to the media that the team has decided who will start at QB in the preseason opener vs Chicago. Vrabel also said that some starters will play in the game, but most will not. Even though Tannehill will be the starter for Ten this year, I highly doubt he will play in this game. This means either Malik Willis or Will Levis will start for Tennessee against the Bears at Soldier Field. The only question is, who will it be??

Levis and Willis have both had very similar training camps thus far, as both seem to be neck and neck. Both have had their moments of greatness and both have had moments of weakness. In the first preseason depth chart that Ten released a couple of days ago, Willis was listed as the QB2, and Levis as the QB3. Things could’ve changed though as that depth chart was released earlier this week. Instead of just taking a wild guess at who will start, let’s take a look at both QBs and form a case for them to start…

WILL LEVIS: The new guy in town has taken over Titans’ nation as many have fallen in love with him since the beginning of camp. Levis has truly made some special plays during training camp, showing off his elite size and terrific athleticism. Deep ball after deep ball connecting with Reggie Roberson, Kearis Jackson, etc. The only knock on Levis all camp has been inconsistency, a problem he had at Kentucky as well. In some practices, Levis looks like the man, in others, he disappoints and is subpar. We have to remember one thing though, he is only a rookie. Levis is Ran Carthon’s guy, and that could play a huge role in him potentially starting this game…

MALIK WILLIS: Improvement… That’s been the word that has been used to describe Malik Willis’ offseason and training camp. The second-year Liberty QB has improved tremendously in his command, decision-making, and accuracy. Willis still has the same problem that was stated above for Levis, inconsistency. You don’t know what Malik Willis you are going to get at practice, or at a game. Levis may be the new, hot story in town, but the Titans’ coaching staff could lean towards a more experienced guy starting the game…

OFFICIAL PREDICTION: Malik Willis will start this game for the Titans’, but expect Will Levis to play more down the stretch. We don’t know how much the starter of the game will play, more than likely they will only play the first quarter or half. Expect Willis to start the game and build some momentum, and have Levis finish off a hopeful good start to the Titans’ 2023 season!!
