Will joel embiid request a trade?

It all begins with an idea.

By Dharya Sharma

Yesterday, we got news that James Harden and 76ers will work to find a trade for the future hall of famer, leaving the state of the 76ers roster in question. What will they do now to build a championship contender around MVP Joel Embiid? That is a question that the 76ers will have to answer, but will they even get an opportunity to? Joel Embiid will be the next superstar player to request a trade off the team that drafted them!

Embiid was drafted by the 76ers with the third pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. Though he battled injuries his first two years in the league, Embiid has been one of the best centers in the league the past half-decade. His unique offense game and stifling rim protection make him one of the best two-way players in the NBA. The only problem with Embiid is his lack of playoff success, as he has never been to an Eastern Conference Finals. He has lost four times in the second round of the playoffs, and has an 0-3 record against Jayson Tatum, and the Celtics. Embiid must find a way to win in a championship in his career if he wants to be remembered as one of the greatest centers ever. Philly won’t be that place, Embiid has reached his ceiling on the 76ers. His window to win a championship in the city of brotherly love is over, and he must accept that. He’s had Ben Simmons, James Harden, and Jimmy Butler as his teammates in Philly, and hasn’t even reached the conference finals. Two coaches have also been fired in Embiid’s time in Philly.

Joel will most likely not request a trade this offseason, but there is a high chance next offseason. His best bet is to request a trade to a team that has assets, and a young star that he can play with. There is a team in the Western Conference who fits this criteria, and if their young star can stay out of trouble, it would be a perfect fit. Ja Morant and Joel Embiid would be electric together in the Grind City as they could potentially lead Memphis to an NBA Title!!
