NFL Week 2 Picks: bengals and Chiefs Bounce back, Titans CONTINUE to Struggle
The second week of the NFL Season is here!
NFL Week 2 is here, as the Eagles and Vikings will kick off the second week of the season tonight in Philly. With that being said, here are my Week 2 NFL picks!!
Eagles beat Vikings 27-17
Minnesota was delivered a shocking Week One loss from Baker and the Bucs, though I expected the game to be close and highly contested. It doesn’t get easier for the Vikings, as they have to play the defending NFC Champions on the road. Philly defeated New England last week, but the game was much closer than many expected, as the Eagles offense took some time to get going. Kirk Cousins usually underperforms heavily in primetime games, and I can’t see him doing a proficient job against this stout Eagles’ defense. The game will be close for a little bit, but expect the tough and physical Eagles run game to put it away late…
Bengals beat Ravens 27-23
As I predicted last week, the Bengals lost to the Browns, but I didn’t expect it to be that ugly. Joe Burrow arguably played the worst game of his professional career, and the Bengals’ offense scored a measly three points. Baltimore came away with a win last week against a putrid Texans team, but the injury bug has alright hit them. JK Dobbins is out for the season, Marcus Williams is going to miss time, Marlon Humphrey suffered an injury, and the O-Line is bagged up. Burrow and the Bengals have had the Ravens number the past couple of seasons, and with the amount of injuries Baltimore is already facing, I don’t see them winning this game…
Lions beat Seahawks 31-24
Both of these teams had polar opposite Week Ones, as Detroit pulled off an upset, while Seattle got upset. Seattle’s loss was one of the more shocking Week One losses, as the Rams just bullied them all second half, and walked away with the win. Geno Smith and the offense didn’t play their best game, but the defense concerns me even more. They don’t have a true presence at linebacker, and the secondary didn’t look great. The Lions went into Arrowhead and upset the defending champions, and showed they can win in any way. Gibbs and Montgomery looked really good, and Goff did what he had to to win the game. The Lions’ defense has also made strides, as they did a decent job shutting down Mahomes and Andy Reids’ potent offense. If this game was in Seattle, I may have leaned toward picking the Hawks, but this is the most excitement Lions fans have had in a minute, and I know Ford Field will be rocking. Give me the Lions in a close one…
Colts beat Texans 17-14
This was the hardest game to pick this week, as both teams have a realistic shot of winning. Anthony Richardson dazzled in his NFL Debut and put up a valiant effort against a tough Jasg team. On the other hand, C.J. Stroud struggled to get going versus a stifling Ravens’ defense and lost 25-9. Both teams are oddly similar, and both will be hungry for their first wins. Though Houston is at home, I’m going with the Colts to win this one on the road. Indy’s defense led by Deforest Buckner and Kenny Moore should be able to do enough to contain a poor Texans offense. On the other hand, Demeco Ryans will have some tricks up his sleeve that will limit the Colts’ offense in this game, but they should be able to control the clock and do just enough to sneak by with a road W…
Bears beat Bucs 24-21
Baker Mayfield and the Bucs pulled off the upset victory on the road last week in Minnesota. Justin Fields and the Bears fell to the Packers at home and were outplayed from start to finish. This game will be a close, defense battle as neither team’s offense showed enough in Week One to prove that they could drop 30 on an opponent. This is the pick I’m least confident in, but give me the Bears to win this game in overtime. Baker and the Bucs will put up another resilient effort, but the Bears’ offense has too much talent to start off in an 0-2 hole…
Chiefs beat Jags 34-31
Kansas City travels into Jacksonville for an AFC Divisional round rematch and a potential AFC Championship Game Preview. Trevor Lawrence and the Jags escaped with a win last week in Indy, but it was much closer than the final score. Jacksonville was inconsistent and sloppy for most of the game but pulled away in the fourth quarter, led by Lawrence and his new shiny toy Calvin Ridley. KC lost their opening week game for the first time since 2014, and are happy to get Travis Kelce back, especially after the wide receiver horrors that took place last Thursday. With Kelce back, I expect Mahomes to regain form, and defeat Lawrence and the Jags in the Game of The Week!!
Packers beat Falcons 21-17
The Jordan Love era for Green Bay has begun, as the Packers dismantled the Bears on the road last week. Love had a terrific game, throwing for over 240 yards and 3 TDs, as he and Aaron Jones led the charge for Green Bay, along with their underrated defense. On the other hand, Desmond Ridder rode a strong run game and tenacious defensive performance to a victory over Bryce Young and the Panthers. This game will be a defensive battle to the end, with the offenses chipping in big drives here and there. In the end, I trust the Packers’ super underrated defense and Matt Lafleur to deliver Green Bay a 2-0 start…
Bills beat Raiders 27-16
A disappointing Monday Night loss for Buffalo filled with sloppy play and turnovers should motivate the team heading into their home opener. Josh Allen took responsibility for his poor play against the Jets, saying “I have to be better” on numerous occasions. Though many have been bashing Allen, many QBs struggled in Week One, and I believe he is in for a huge bounce-back performance versus the Raiders. Las Vegas had a nice win last week versus the Broncos, as Jimmy Garoppolo delivered some clutch plays late, and the defense shut down the Broncos’ offense in the second half. With that being said, they don’t have what it takes to defeat this Buffalo team, but they should be able to keep it somewhat close throughout…
Chargers beat Titans 31-23
The Chargers suffered a close loss last week against an explosive Miami team, but are in good shape to bounce back on the road in Tennessee. The Titans’ defense is great, but the secondary can be questionable at times. Justin Herbert and the Chargers should have easy success with deep balls and boundary throws against these inconsistent Titans’ defensive backs. Ryan Tannehill and the Titans’ offense will look to rebound from last weekend and get back on track. They will have a great opportunity to do that against an underwhelming Chargers defense. In the end, I expect Justin Herbert to make more plays than Ryan Tannehill throughout, and that will lead to a Bolt W…
Note: Austin Ekeler and Joey Bosa are both injured, so this prediction could change depending on injuries!!
49ers beat Rams 34-14
LA was able to come away with the upset win over the Seahawks last week, but things will be different this week against the 49ers. First of all, the 49ers’ defense will not let Puka Nacua go for over 100 yards receiving, and Nick Bosa is going to eat Matthew Stafford alive. Brock Purdy and the offense led by Kyle Shanahan will keep doing their thing, running a balanced offense with the right amount of runs and passes. I hope the Rams are ready because the 49ers aren’t going to play around like the Seahawks. This game will be short and sweet for the 49ers, but bitter and long-lasting for the hometown Rams…
Giants beat cardinals 24-17
Both of these teams lost last week, but both losses were very different. The Cardinals weren’t expected to compete at all but put up a great fight against the Commanders. The Giants were expected to compete with the Cowboys, but instead, we got a Sunday Night beatdown. That doesn’t change the fact that New York is the better overall team, and will get their first win this weekend. Though he struggled last week, I expect Daniel Jones and the Giants’ offense to get it going a little against a bad Cardinals defense. Though New York’s defense struggled against the run versus Dallas last Sunday Night, they are working against a low-tier O-line this week and should bounce back. Arizona will keep it competitive for a little back, but the Giants will end up running away with it in the end…
Cowboys beat Jets 27-21
Dallas won in dominating fashion at home versus the Giants last week. Heading into Week Two, the Cowboys will look to beat the Giants in city rival, the Jets. Dak Prescott and the offense didn’t have to be super aggressive last week, as their defense was stellar and Tony Pollard showed his RB1 potential. This week, it may be time for Dak to let it fly, and take some chances down the field. Aaron Rodgers’ injury is obviously devastating, but the Jets were still able to squeak away with a victory, and Zach Wilson didn’t look terrible in the second half! No matter what Wilson does, the Jets will be competing in every game this season because of their defense. NYJ’s defense can do it all: Force Turnovers, pressure the QB, create negative plays, you name it. In the end, Zach Wilson just won’t be able to make enough plays versus this lockdown Cowboys’ defense, and that will result in a Cowboys home victory…
Commanders beat Broncos 20-17
The Sam Howell era in Washington got off to an okay start last week, as the Commanders were able to squeak past the Cardinals 20-16. Howell and the offense took some time to get going but were bailed out by a great performance by the Commanders’ defense. Washington shut down the Cardinals’ pass game and showed that they can be one of the best defensive in the league. Denver lost a close one last week at home versus the Raiders, a game that Denver had in their grasp. Stalled drives and conservative playcalling doomed Denver in that game. Like last week for both teams, this will be a close contest for both teams, but give me the Commanders and that hard-hitting defense to get the win…
Dolphins beat Patriots 35-24
Miami arguably put up the best win of the week last Sunday, as they won a shootout on the road against the LA Chargers. Tua to Tyreek may be the best QB-WR duo in the game right now, and I just don’t see the Patriots stopping it. New England put up a great fight last week against the defending NFC Champs but came up short. Mac Jones did a lot of great things last week, throwing for over 300 yards and three touchdowns. NE’s defense also did a proficient job of stopping the Eagles’ quick offense but came up just short. Belichick will make sure that the Patriots keep it close, but Miami will literally sprint away with it late to capture a road victory…
Panthers beat Saints 24-20
Bryce Young will make his regular-season home debut versus the Saints on MNF. Carolina fell to the Falcons last weekend, as Young and the offense struggled mightily. Frank Reich and the Panthers were unable to get the passing game rolling, as A.J. Terrell and the Falcons defense shut down the rookie. New Orleans defeated the Titans last week but got a little lucky as Ryan Tannehill had the worst game of his entire career. The Saints offense wasn’t anything special, though the defense played pretty well. In the end, the Panthers’ underrated and stout defense will shut down Derek Carr and the Saints, and that will lead to Bryce Youngs’ first career win…
Browns beat Steelers 28-16
Cleveland pulled off an upset I predicted, as they defeated the Bengals 24-3. The Browns’ defense went nuclear, shutting down Joe Burrow and the Cincy offense without showing any mercy. The offense did what they needed to do, as Deshaun Watson managed the game and Nick Chubb did Nick Chubb things. Pittsburgh wasn’t as lucky last week, as they were mentally and physically crushed by the 49ers. Pitt’s offense had one of the worst performances of any unit last week, as Kenny Pickett struggled greatly. Najee Harris and the Pittsburgh running game didn’t do much to help their young and naive QB though, as they put up a weak 41 rushing yards. Cleveland’s defense is going to eat in this game, and go back for seconds….
