Titans Five ROund Mock Draft
Playoff-caliber teams and the league's top contenders are gearing up for late-season pushes as the postseason approaches. On the other hand, teams that have already thrown their playoff aspirations down the drain are preparing for late April, a.k .a. the NFL Draft. The Tennessee Titans are one of those teams preparing for April's draft, as they have established themselves as one of the worst teams in the NFL. Let's kick off mock draft season with my first official Titans Mock Draft! (5 rounds)
R1 P6: Joe Alt, OT Notre Dame
The Titans' offensive line sucks, we all know this. This unit consists of guys who would be backups and third-stringers on competent NFL teams. Though the interior of the line leaves a lot to be desired, Tennessee's offensive tackles are among the worst in the NFL. Andre Dillard was a flop of a free agency signing, and the revolving door at RT is a hot mess. Tennessee can solve this problem effortlessly in the draft by taking Notre Dame OT Joe Alt with their first round. Alt is the anchor of Notre Dame's O-Line and is the highest-graded offensive lineman in college football via PFF. Joe's elite pass-blocking and tenacious energy in the run game fits Tennessee's style of play. The 6'8, 320-pound offensive tackle would be a home run selection for GM Ran Carthon in April and would sure up the left side of the Titans' O-Line for a decade plus...
R2 P38: Troy Franklin, WR Oregon
The Titans' WR corps lacks speed and high-end talent, but that problem would be fixed with the selection of Oregon WR Troy Franklin. The former four-star recruit runs a blazing 4.35 40-yard dash and would complement Deandre Hopkins and Treylon Burks perfectly. Franklin's run-after-catch ability makes him dangerous in the open field, and he would finally add that big play aspect to Tennessee's Offense that they've lacked the past couple of years. A good pro comp for the Oregon WR would be Panthers WR DJ Chark...
R4 P106: Tommy Eichenberg, LB Ohio State
The Titans' middle linebackers have been disappointing this year, as many expected Azeez Al-Shaair and Jack Gibbens to be solid starters on the Tennessee Defense. Though he has dealt with injuries this season, Tommy Eichenberg would be a fantastic fit on the Titans' defense. Eichenberg is one of the nation's top run-stuffing linebackers and can hold his own against tight ends in the passing game. Ohio State HC Ryan Day has also praised Eichenberg's leadership and is one of the Buckeyes three team captains. The 6'2, 235-pound LB would fit the Titans' culture perfectly, and we all know Mike Vrabel loves his Buckeyes...
R5, P145: Bryce Foster, C Texas A&M
Aaron Brewer hasn't been terrible for the Titans this season, but the entire offensive line needs a rebuild in Nashville. Bryce Foster has been the anchor of the Aggies' O-Line for the past couple of years, and his quick get-off would be a fine addition to Tennessee's offensive line. Foster's sneaky athleticism helps him dominate in the run-and-pass game, though his hand placement is off at times. Most importantly, Bryce's 6'5, 330-pound frame is fantastic compared to the undersized Brewer. Foster would take over as the starting center in Tennessee on day one of training camp...
