This Titans Player should be Given More Playing Time
The Tennessee Titans suffered an embarrassing 27-17 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10, as Brian Callahan's squad completely fell apart in the second half and had no answer for Los Angeles' physical brand of football under first-year head coach Jim Harbaugh. The Titans are now 2-7 on the year and are on their way to having a top-three selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.
With Tennessee's season dead in the water, the Titans should use the second half of the campaign to see what they have in the younger players on the roster. With that being said, here is one young Titan who should see increased playing time in the final eight games of the season.
Wide receiver Bryce Oliver was signed as an undrafted free agent on May 10th. The rookie out of Youngstown State was one of Tennessee's biggest standouts in the preseason, posting eight receptions for 90 yards and two touchdowns in three games during preseason play.
Oliver didn't make the Titans' initial 53-man roster but was signed to the practice squad shortly after final cuts. The 23-year-old was promoted to the active roster on November 2nd ahead of the team's Week 9 matchup versus the New England Patriots and saw some playing time on special teams during the game, totaling one tackle and a 77.0 PFF Grade on four punt coverage snaps against New England. The rookie also played five offensive snaps in the home win over the Patriots.
Oliver has shown some potential on special teams but finally got involved in the receiving game. The former second-team All-MVFC hauled in two catches for 23 yards toward the end of the Titans' loss to the Chargers on Sunday, with one reception going for 19 yards.
Though Oliver has played limited snaps thus far and only got involved on offense during garbage time, Brian Callahan should give the undrafted rookie more playing time and opportunities moving forward. Tennessee has nothing to lose, and Oliver is a developmental piece who has shown potential. The former Youngstown State Penguin should see increased snaps on special teams and offense, and if he plays well, Oliver could establish himself as a key depth piece for Tennessee next season.
