Interview with 2024 NFL Draft Prospect TyWonne Harris!

Got the chance to sit down with 2024 NFL Draft Prospect Tywonne Harris! The 5'10, 185-pound corner played college football at Northern Colorado this past season and is drawing interest from many NFL teams.

Question 1

Sharm: Take me through your experience playing college football.

Harris: I first went to LA Tech and played alongside L'Jarius Sneed and Amik Robertson. Those guys took me under their wing and showed me the way. After getting kicked out of school due to my grades in 2018, I went juco and attended Butler Community College in 2019. I faced a ton of adversity, including my mother passing away and suffering a severe knee injury. The doctor told me I may never play football again, but I started rehab and put my trust in god. It took me two years to get back, and my first practice back in the spring of 2021, I broke my wrist. Butler was thinking about cutting me, but my defensive backs coach and defensive coordinator had my back, and they brought me back for the season. After that, I went to Northern Colorado to play under Ed McCaffrey in 2022. They brought in a whole new staff in 2023, and that staff taught me how to be a leader and overcomer. My college football experience was filled with grit, never giving up, and battling through adversity.

Question 2

Sharm: Describe your playstyle.

Harris: I have a similar playstyle to Amik Robertson. We used to practice together at LA Tech, and we play with the same tenacity, confidence, and swagger. Also, Tyrann Mathieu, because I'm so versatile. I can play corner and nickel, and I even played a game at safety last year.

Question 3

Sharm: You ran track and played soccer in high school along with football. How did being a multi-sport athlete help you improve in football?

Harris: I ran track all four years of high school and played soccer my senior year. I was an all-district goalie. Playing multiple sports helped me be more versatile, and track helped me get faster. All high school players coming up should run track. Soccer helped me open up my whole variety, and playing goalie is like playing safety.

Question 4

Sharm: What NFL players do you watch and try to emulate your game around?

Harris: This past summer, I spent hours watching film of different NFL players: Patrick Peterson, Jalen Ramsey, Amik Robertson, and Jaire Alexander. Those guys compete every single down. I also like watching players with really good technique, like Tre'Davious White.

Question 5

Sharm: What will Tywonne Harris bring to an NFL team on a day-to-day basis?

Harris: Energy, confidence, swagger. Everywhere I went, I always brought energy, and I'm a team guy. Anything the team needs me to do, I'll do. Whether that be playing corner, nickel, or special teams.

Question 6

Sharm: When faced with adversity, how do you respond?

Harris: I never give up. When I'm faced with adversity, I look it in the eye and accept the challenge. I've been faced with adversity so many times that I'm used to it. It will never bring me down.

Question 7

Sharm: What did L'Jarius Sneed teach you when you were teammates at LA Tech?

Harris: Sneed was always quiet, but he was a dog. He always taught me to do your job at a high level. Sneed competed every single day and taught me how to be a student of the game.
