Tennessee Titans who Exceeded EXPECTATIONS in 2023
It's been a frustrating 2023 campaign for the Tennessee Titans, as the franchise will have back-to-back losing seasons for the first time since 2014 and 2015. A prominent reason for the Titans' dysfunctional season is underwhelming performances from players who were supposed to make significant impacts. Andre Dillard, Kristian Fulton, and Treylon Burks are just a few names who disappointed in 2023. Though many on the roster failed to meet expectations, a handful of players exceeded performance projections this season, and they must be commended for it...
Daniel Brunskill, Guard
The Titans' O-Line has been horrendous this season, but Brunskill has been one of the lone bright spots on the poor unit. The former 49er has given up just two sacks in 768 offensive snaps while committing only one penalty. After signing a cheap two-year deal in the offseason, many projected Brunskill to be a below-average starter who would provide adequate depth, but he has been pretty good in a high volume of snaps. His solid play has been overshadowed by the incompetence of his teammates in the trenches...
Denico Autry, DL
"Denico Autry will have a career year in his age 33 season." If someone would've said that sentence in May, you would've called them crazy. The Mississippi State alum has recorded 11.5 sacks, 12 TFLs, and 17 QB hits this season. Autry has proven to be one of the greatest free agent signings in Titans' history, as his three-year, $21 million contract was a complete bargain. The 33-year-old is scheduled to hit free agency in March, and it would be a no-brainer for Ran Carthon to bring back the ageless wonder...
Harold Landry, OLB
Landry had a difficult start to the season, totaling just two sacks and three TFLs in Tennessee's first six games. But ever since the team's bye week, Landry has been playing at a Pro Bowl level. The former Boston College standout has eight sacks, 11 TFLs, and 18 QB hits since Week Eight. Nobody expected Landry to be this disruptive coming off a torn ACL, but the 27-year-old looks more explosive and dominant than ever before...
Tyjae Spears, RB
Many were astonished when the Titans selected Tulane RB Tyjae Spears in the third round of the draft, especially with their pressing need for a WR at the time. Though many frowned at the pick, Spears has proven valuable for the Titans this season and for the future. The 22-year-old is fourth in the NFL in all-purpose yards by a rookie and has showcased his ability as a versatile weapon. Spears is averaging 4.4 yards per carry this season, hauled in 49 catches for 344 yards, and has also returned kicks for Craig Aukerman (formerly) and Tom Quinn's special teams. Tyjae is a special talent who should see increased touches in 2024…
