The Titans should heavily pursue this free agent Linebacker!

NFL Free Agency officially begins on Monday, as teams are allowed to legally tamper with players starting March 11th at noon EST. The Titans should be active spenders this free agency period, as GM Ran Carthon has over $75 million in cap space to work with. Though the offense will be the primary focus this offseason in Nashville, the Titans can't neglect the holes they must fill on defense. Here is one free agent linebacker Tennessee should sign for Dennard Wilson's defense!

After battling injuries and limited playing time with the Jets from 2019-2021, Blake Cashman flourished in Houston and had a career season in 2023 under Demeco Ryans. The former Gopher was one of PFF's highest-graded linebackers last season, scoring an 83.7 overall grade and an 82.7 run defense grade. Cashman was also adequate in pass coverage in 2023, allowing a 78.1 passer rating when targeted and boasting a 71.9 coverage grade. The 27-year-old also led Houston in total tackles at 106 and had nine TFLS. Tennessee's linebacker play in 2023 was less than ideal, as Azeez Al-Shaair played well but struggled in pass coverage, and Jack Gibbens was below average. Adding Cashman to the linebacker room, coached by Frank Bush, would be a match made in heaven!

If the Titans decide to resign Azeez Al-Shaair, a linebacker duo of Cashman and Azeez would be the best of both worlds. Al Shaair’s tenacious playstyle, paired with Cashman's consistency in the run and pass game, would give Tennessee more than adequate middle linebacker play. Signing the veteran linebacker from Houston would be a calculated and savvy move by Ran Carthon!

PROJECTED CONTRACT: 2 years, $12 million ($6 million APY, $7 million GRT)
