Takeaways from the Titans Road Win against the Vikings

The Titans were able to come away with the win last night against the Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium. Here are my biggest takeaways from the 24-16 road victory..

Malik Willis Ups and Downs

Willis had a very weird game last night but did enough for the Titans to win. He struggled early in the first half, turning the ball over and not being able to hold on to the football. Willis completed 10 passes for 85 yards, one TD, and one INT. Malik also added 91 yards on the ground, which was a key factor in the Titans’ win. Malik struggled early but was able to bounce back and play a clean second half and lead the Titans to victory. It wasn’t as good as last week, but you can definitely see the strides the second-year QB has made!!

Julius Chestnut is RB3

Chestnut was the MVP of the game last night for Tennessee. The second-year running back out of Sacred Heart totaled 99 scrimmage yards and two total touchdowns in the win. Chestnut did it all for Tennessee last night, bursting off big runs, catching TDS, blocking in pass protection, etc. Julius isn’t afraid to do the dirty work and is taking advantage of all the opportunities he has in front of him. With Hassan Haskins’ legal situation still up in the air, there is no doubt in my mind that Vrabel will choose the much improved Chestnut over the former Michigan star…

Eric Garror=Roster Spot

Garror impressed once again last night, as he did it all for Tennessee in the win. The former Louisiana standout has been great against the run all preseason long and has a knack for making open-field tackles. Ten had a couple of injuries to guys who usually return punts, so they through Garror back there, and he performed well. He had two returns for 22 yards and was smart with the ball back there. Vrabel loves smart and tough football players who work for everything, and Garror is that type of guy. His chances of making the roster have skyrocketed over the past two weeks…

Caleb Murphy is a Dawg

The NCAA single-season sack season record holder was unstoppable last night, as the Vikings’ O-Line didn’t know how to stop him. Murphy had two sacks and two TFLs in the win last night and greatly increased his chances at a roster spot. The former Ferris State star is relentless in his pursuit for the QB and has an incredibly high motor. The Titans’ have quite a crowded edge group, but Murphy is making a strong case for a roster spot…

Mason Kinsey is trying once again

Kinsey has been with the Titans for three years, and every year he has been cut and placed on practice squad. This year could be a different story with how many injuries the Titans’ receiver room has. Kyle Philips went to the locker room early and didn’t return last night, and we all know the Burks’ situation. Kinsey could make the roster as the sixth receiver if he continues to perform well. He has value returning punts and is the leading receiver for Ten in the preseason so far. Though that sixth receiver spot is crowded with many names, Kinsey is making a good case to get it…
